The accommodation is designed to allow for both families and couples to holiday in peace. Both kinds of travellers have a dedicated end of the resort, which allows for everyone to enjoy the tranquility of the spectacular beach.
The architecture is in the Caribbean vernacular with plantation shutters painted a cool grey against which the palms, lawns and forest appear all the more green. Hammocks hang among the trees.
By day, every room is filled with sunshine from sea-facing, floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto private terraces. Many rooms lead directly onto the beach. Others have lawns and far-reaching ocean views.
Tennis Programs
Carlisle Bay is unique among Caribbean hotels in providing extensive, high-quality tennis facilities for the use of resort guests. With three tennis courts and 1 pickleball court. All equipment is provided, and we also run complimentary tennis clinics as part of the weekly activities programme. Tennis pros Rennie George and Nigel Anthony offer the best instruction, tips and advice to help get you started or improve your game.

Exploring the island:
For exploring the island, Carlisle Bay offers eco-tours that take you into the hinterland, including the mangroves and reef systems of Antigua, with trips led by Antiguan eco-guide Eli Fuller. Half- and full-day charters might include an easy nature trail on Great Bird Island or a bath in a natural Jacuzzi. Highlights include the Georgian-style English Harbour, Nelson’s Dockyard, and local arts and crafts boutiques.
Yachting and Sailing:
Caribbean yachting holidays are among the main draws of Antigua. At Carlisle Bay, guests can learn to sail or improve their skills aboard a 40-foot keelboat on three-day Royal Yachting Association courses offered through On Deck Racing. The island hosts two events yearly: Antigua Sailing Week and The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, considered among the world's premier sailing and yachting events.
Diving, Snorkelling and Watersports:
Diving, snorkelling, and watersports are popular activities at Carlisle Bay. PADI Open-Water four-day certification courses and one-day Discover Scuba courses are available to give beginners a taste of the experience. All pool training is done at Carlisle Bay. The PADI Bubblemaker program is also offered to introduce children aged 8 years and above to scuba diving, with a maximum depth of 2 meters.
Motorized watersports, such as waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing, take place in a neighbouring cove to preserve the tranquillity of Carlisle Bay for all guests. Note that these sports are chargeable.
Golf:
Although Carlisle Bay does not have a golf course, guests can book tee times at the 18-hole Cedar Valley Golf Club, a great Caribbean golf course. Club hire can also be arranged.
Helicopter Tours:
Private helicopter charters are available on a daily basis and can include a volcano fly-around on Montserrat or a tour of the 50 miles of clear water reef systems and beaches that give Antigua its character.
Deep sea fishing:
For those interested in fishing, Caribbean deep-sea fishing is second to none in the waters off Antigua, with marlin, kingfish, wahoo, and barracuda being common catches. Various charters with exceptional skippers are available.
